Day2｜ Fierce Racing and Festive Vibes at Enoshima

On Saturday, May 24th, Day 2 of the Lypo-C Enoshima Olympic Week 2025 took place, bringing together all eight classes and filling Enoshima Yacht Harbor with a vibrant atmosphere of boats and sailors. As with the previous day, a northeasterly wind ranging from 7 to 16 knots created varied conditions, under which three races were held for the 470, Snipe, Optimist, and ILCA classes, while four races were conducted for the 420, FX, and 29er classes. Each course saw thrilling and competitive racing throughout the day.

The spotlight was particularly on the Snipe class, which recorded the largest turnout of the event with 92 boats and 184 sailors. Top sailors from both Japan and abroad gathered for intense competition. Among them were Olympians such as Ai Yoshida, a four-time Olympic competitor in the 470 class, and Keiju Okada, silver medalist at the Paris Olympics, who both entered the Snipe class, taking on the dedicated “Snipers” who regularly sail the class. By the end of the day, provisional results placed Kiyoyoshi Ijima / Yu Kumakura in first, followed by Junichiro Shiraishi / Egao Sunaga in second, and Ai Yoshida / Honoka Miura in third. Yoshida and Miura, sailing together for the first time at this event, are using the regatta as an important preparation for the Snipe Women's World Championship, which will be held in Enoshima this July.

Yoshida commented, “We’re sailing together for the first time in preparation for the Snipe Women’s Worlds here in Enoshima this July. Honoka, who previously sailed ILCA6, brings powerful hiking and is a truly reliable teammate.” Miura added with a smile, “Ai invited me to team up, and although this is my first time sailing a Snipe, we finished all three races in single digits today. Of course, it's thanks to Ai, but I had an incredibly fun day. I’ll do my best again tomorrow on the final day.”

After racing concluded, the Opening Ceremony and Welcome Party were held. The festivities began with a traditional kagami-biraki sake barrel opening, followed by a dynamic taiko drum performance by Sōshū Shindō Taiko and a lively prize raffle. The evening also featured a special talk session, “Meet up Olympian!!,” led by Keiju Okada and other Olympic sailors. Joining him on stage were Ai Yoshida and Yugo Yoshida (470 class), Misaki Tanaka and Sera Nagamatsu (49erFX class), and Fabien Pic, a two-time Olympic campaigner in the Finn class from France, who is competing at this event. Together, the athletes shared their stories and messages of encouragement, inspiring the many sailors in attendance.

Tomorrow marks the final day of racing. With podium positions on the line in every class, spectators can look forward to one last day of high-stakes competition on the waters off Enoshima.

5月24日（土）、Lypo-C Enoshima Olympic Week 2025のレース2日目が行われ、全8クラスが出揃った江の島ヨットハーバーは、多くの艇と選手で賑わいを見せました。この日も昨日に引き続き、北東からの風が7〜16ノットと強弱のあるコンディションの中、470、スナイプ、OP、ILCAでは3レースずつ、420、FX、29erでは4レースずつが行われ、各コースで白熱した戦いが繰り広げられました。

中でも注目を集めたのは、今大会で最大規模となるスナイプ級。92艇（184人）がエントリーし、国内外のトップセーラーたちによる高いレベルのレースが展開されました。470級で五輪4大会に出場した吉田愛選手や、パリ五輪470級銀メダリストの岡田奎樹選手もスナイプ級に参戦し、普段からスナイプに取り組む“スナイパー”たちとの激戦が注目を集めました。この日の暫定成績では、井嶋清芳／熊倉優組がトップ、白石潤一郎／須永笑顔組が2位、吉田愛／三浦帆香組が3位につけています。吉田／三浦組は今大会が初めてのペアで、7月に江の島で開催されるスナイプ女子世界選手権に向けた試金石としても期待されています。

吉田選手は「今年7月に江の島ヨットハーバーで開催されるスナイプ女子世界選手権に向け、初めて組むペアで今大会に出場しています。ILCA6に乗っていた帆香さんは、スナイプでも力強くハイクアウトしてくれて頼もしい存在です」とコメントし、三浦選手も「愛さんから声をかけていただき、今回ペアを組むことになりました。スナイプに乗るのは初めてですが、今日は3レースすべてシングルで、もちろん愛さんのおかげですが、ものすごく楽しい一日でした。明日の最終日も頑張ります」と笑顔を見せました。

レース終了後には開会式とウェルカムパーティーが行われ、鏡開きに始まり、相州 神童太鼓の迫力ある演奏や豪華賞品が当たる抽選会で会場は大いに盛り上がりました。さらに、岡田奎樹選手をはじめとするオリンピアンによるスペシャルトークショー「Meet up Olympian!!」も開催され、吉田愛選手・吉田雄悟選手の470級ペア、田中美紗樹選手・永松瀬羅選手の49erFX級ペア、そしてフィン級で二度の五輪キャンペーンを経験し、今大会にはフランスから参加しているフェビアン・ピック選手も登壇し、それぞれの競技への思いや挑戦を語り、集まった選手たちに熱いエールを送りました。

明日はいよいよ大会最終日を迎えます。各クラスで表彰台をかけた争いが本格化し、最後まで目の離せない一日となりそうです。
