A diverse group of sailors, from elementary schoolers to veterans, were honored

On May 24, the final day of "Lypo-C Enoshima Week 2026," organizers aimed to conduct races across all 11 disciplines off the coast of the Enoshima Yacht Harbor. However, light and unstable wind conditions since the morning led to prolonged waiting times on the water, ultimately resulting in no races being held for any discipline. Consequently, the standings as of yesterday were locked in as the final results.

This regatta also served as the selection trials for the youth categories of the upcoming 20th Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games this September. Final selections were secured for the 420 class (Mixed Dinghy), the iQFOiL class (Men's/Women's Windsurfing), and the 29er class (Men's/Women's Skiff). With these results, the full roster of sailing representatives for the Asian Games has been finalized.

Furthermore, the top 10 mixed pairs in the 470 class earned their berths for the "2026 470 World Championship," which will be held at the Enoshima Yacht Harbor from August 10 to 17.

Rebranded this year from "Enoshima Olympic Week" to "Enoshima Week," the event drew 412 boats and 686 sailors from Japan and abroad. A wide range of generations, from elite athletes eyeing the Olympics to junior sailors, engaged in fierce competition on the waters of Enoshima.

Natsumi Funasawa / Natsuko Funasawa

 (29er Class – 2nd Overall, Top Female Pair / Asian Games Youth Representatives):

"If we hadn't capsized in yesterday's race, we could have won! However, we identified areas for improvement, so we are going to train hard moving forward."

Haruto Goto / Hiro Nagahori (29er Class):

"This regatta really showed us how difficult course management can be. We were dead last at every first windward mark. While we managed to claw our way up by the finish, we want to practice so that we can consistently sail among the leaders from the very start."

Akari Oshima (iQFOiL Class – 2nd in Youth / Asian Games Representative):

"I was able to perform well and get results in strong winds, which is my strength. My weakness is light wind, so I want to overcome that through training camps and other opportunities."

Shotora Kozono (iQFOiL Class – Youth Winner):

"I excel in medium winds like we had yesterday, which allowed me to stay at the front. I feel less confident in strong winds, so I want to work on eliminating my weak conditions."

Misaki Kadomori / Riho Sanematsu (420 Class Winners / Asian Games Representatives):

"Since we are a lightweight pair, we struggled a bit in yesterday’s strong winds. However, we focused on getting ahead at the start and making sure we didn't lose speed during tacks. There were some races in this regatta where we failed to catch the clean wind from the front line at the start, so we want to make our starts 100% perfect in the future."

Keigo Okada (ILCA 7 Class Winner):

"It is incredibly fun to race against international sailors here in Japan."

Junseong An / Jkangtaek Oh (South Korea – 49er Class Winners):

"The venue is spacious, and the racing area is vast, which allowed for great racing. There are stronger sailors in Korea, so we couldn’t make the Asian Games team, but we definitely want to participate in this event again."

Sailors from Malaysia and Thailand:

"It was an excellent regatta, and we really enjoyed it. If we could make just one request, we would love for the event period to be longer. In sailing, there are days when we can't race due to a lack of wind, so we want more opportunities to race in this wonderful environment."

"Enoshima Week" has made a fresh start at the Enoshima Yacht Harbor—the historic sailing venue for both the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and the Tokyo 2020 Games. Many domestic and international athletes expressed high hopes for the event to expand even further in the coming years. Enoshima's new challenge toward the global stage will continue.

最終日は風が吹かずノーレースに

― アジア大会ユース代表が出揃う　江の島開催の470級世界選手権出場チームも決定―

全種目のメダリストたち　小学生からベテランまで幅広いセーラーが表彰されました

「Lypo-C 江の島ウィーク2026」は大会最終日を迎えた24日、江の島ヨットハーバー沖で全11種目のレース実施を目指しましたが、朝から風が弱く不安定なコンディションとなり、海上で長時間のウェイティングが続いた末、すべての種目でノーレースとなりました。これにより、昨日までの成績が最終成績として確定しました。

今大会では、今年9月に開催される「第20回愛知･名古屋アジア競技大会」ユース種目の代表選考も兼ねており、男女混合ユースディンギー種目の420級、男子・女子ユースウインドサーフィン種目のiQFOiL級、男子･女子湯ユーススキフ種目の29er級の代表内定者が決定しました。これにより、アジア大会競技大会セーリング競技のすべての代表内定選手が出揃いました。

また、470級では男女ペアの上位10チームが、8月10日から17日まで江の島ヨットハーバーで開催される「2026年470級世界選手権大会」の出場権を獲得しました。

今年から大会名称を「江の島オリンピックウイーク」から「江の島ウイーク」へ刷新した本大会には、国内外から412艇、686人の選手が参加。オリンピックを目指すトップ選手からジュニア世代まで、幅広い世代による熱戦が江の島の海で繰り広げられました。

29er級で総合2位となり、女子最上位としてアジア大会ユース代表に内定した舩澤夏美／舩澤夏子組は、「昨日のレースで沈をしなければ、優勝できたのに！でも課題が見つかったので、これからしっかり練習していきます」と大会を振り返りました。

また、29er級の後藤晴人／長堀滉組は、「コース取りの難しさを感じた大会でした。1上は全部ビリ。フィニッシュまでに順位を上げられたので良かったけれど、最初からしっかり上位を走れるように練習していきたいです」とコメント。難しい風のコンディションの中で課題と手応えを得た様子を語りました。

iQFOiL級ユース2位でアジア大会代表に内定した大島朱莉選手は、「得意な強風のコンディションで走ることができ、成績を残せました。課題は軽風なので、合宿などを通して克服していきたいです」とコメントしました。

また、iQFOiL級ユースで優勝した小薗正虎選手は、「昨日の中風ぐらいが得意で前を走ることができました。どちらかというと強風に苦手意識があるので、苦手なコンディションをなくせるようにしていきたいです」と話し、それぞれが今後の課題を見据えていました。

420級を制し、アジア大会代表に内定した角森未岬／實松莉歩組は、「自分たちは軽量ペアなので、昨日の強風は少し苦労しました。でもスタートで前に出るようにして、切れ上がってスピードが落ちたりしないように気をつけて走りました。スタートでフロントラインからフレッシュウインドを掴むというのが今大会ではできないレースもあったので、100発100中にできるようにしたいです」と、レース内容を振り返りました。

海ILCA7級を制した岡田敬吾選手は、「日本で海外選手とレースができるのはとても楽しいです」と語り、国際大会ならではの魅力を口にしました。

外選手たちからも、大会への高い評価が聞かれました。49er級で優勝した韓国のJunseong An／Jkangtaek Oh組は、「今大会は会場も広いし、レース海面も広くて良いレースができました。韓国にはもっと強い選手がいて、僕たちはアジア大会の代表にはなれませんでしたが、またこの大会には参加したいです」とコメントしました。

また、マレーシアやタイの選手からは、「とても良い大会でした。楽しみました。ただ一つだけリクエストを言わせてもらうと、もっと大会期間を長くしてほしいです。セーリングは風がなくてレースができないこともあるので、もっとこの環境でレースをしたいです」といった声も聞かれました。

1964年、そして2021年東京2020オリンピックのセーリング競技会場となった江の島ヨットハーバーを舞台に、新たなスタートを切った「江の島ウイーク」。国内外の選手たちからは、来年以降さらに規模を拡大した大会となることを期待する声も多く聞かれました。江の島から世界へ向けた新たな挑戦は、これからも続いていきます。
