Lypo-C Enoshima Week: Ikeda / Miyazaki Take Early Lead in 470 Class

"Lypo-C Enoshima Week 2026" entered its second day, marking the start of racing for the 470 class. The waters surrounding the Enoshima Yacht Harbor saw challenging conditions, with northerly winds gusting up to nearly 12.5 meters per second (approx. 25 knots), making it a grueling day that led some of the registered boats to stay ashore.

Despite the heavy seas, the competing sailors put on a powerful display on the water. In the 470 class, the duo of Kaito Ikeda and Asahi Miyazaki claimed the top spot after completing two races.

"Since we are a male pair, our weight worked to our advantage today," said skipper Ikeda. "I'm glad we sailed strong and managed to take the lead. Before aiming for international events in a mixed pair, I want to firmly establish our names at the All-Japan level and build momentum for what's next."

Crew member Miyazaki also looked ahead to the upcoming races, adding, "It was great to lead the fleet in our preferred wind conditions. Once the wind drops, I expect the lighter teams to make a comeback, so we need to ensure we continue to stay at the front from tomorrow onward."

Meanwhile, Austin Cross from Australia, currently sitting in 4th place, highly praised the depth of Japan's 470 fleet: "There are so many 470s in Japan and the level is incredibly high, so competing in this regatta is excellent practice for us. The 470 World Championship will be held here in Enoshima this August, which is exactly why we decided to enter this event. In Australia, we only have about six boats nationwide at most. I really envy Japan for having such a huge fleet gather like this." Sophie Jackson, skipper of the Australian team, added with a smile, "I really enjoyed the racing today!"

Tomorrow, the third day of the regatta, races are scheduled for all classes. With strong winds forecasted to continue, intense and hard-fought battles are expected across the fleets.

Lypo-C 江の島ウイーク　470級の池田／宮崎組が首位発進

― 北風15メートルのタフコンディション、海外勢も上位を快走 ―

「Lypo-C江の島ウイーク2026」は大会2日目を迎え、470級のレースがスタートしました。会場の江の島ヨットハーバー周辺海域では、北寄りの風が最大12.5メートル近く吹く強風コンディションとなり、エントリー艇の一部が出艇を見合わせる厳しい一日となりました。

しかし荒れた海面の中でも、出場した選手たちは力強い走りを見せ、470級では池田海人／宮崎朝光組が2レースを終えてトップに立ちました。

スキッパーの池田選手は、「僕たちは男子ペアなので体重のアドバンテージがありました。今日、しっかり走ってトップを取れたことは良かったと思います。ミックスペアで世界大会を目指す前に、全国レベルの大会で名前をしっかり残して、次につなげたいです」とコメント。

クルーの宮崎選手も「自分たちの得意な風でトップを走れたことは良かったと思います。風が落ちると体重が軽いチームが上がってくると思ので、明日以降もきちんと前を走れるようにしたいです」と、今後のレースを見据えました。

また、4位につけたオーストラリアのオースチン・クロスは、「日本は470がたくさんいてレベルも高いので、このレガッタに出ることはとても良い練習になります。8月に470級の世界大会がここ江の島で開催されるので、それもあってこの大会への出場を決めました。オーストラリアでは最大でも国内に6艇ぐらいしかいません。これだけ多くの艇が集まる日本は羨ましいです」と、日本の470級シーンの厚みを評価しました。スキッパー、ソフィー・ジャクソンは「レースはとても楽しかったわ」と笑顔で語りました。

大会3日目となる明日は、全競技でレースが予定されています。引き続き強風予報となっており、各クラスでハードな戦いが繰り広げられる見込みです。
